AI in Education

  1. Lesson plan generator, This tool is made to help teachers create a draft lesson plan, it does the bulk of the work and all the teacher needs to do is look over it and review it. The generator creates a full outline of everything that needs to be done for the lesson, it gives you homework ideas, standards, and more. This tool is very easy for me to use and it didn’t take a lot of time for me to understand the tool and what it does. The impact of this tool could save teachers a lot of time in the long run and give them more time to teach their students.

  2. Informational text generator, This tool is made to generate new text about an informational situation that students can use as a prompt to do work on. This tool is very effective for writing informational text. I used it to write about basketball in the early 2000s and it was written in great detail with names of athletes from that time and what it was like. It was very easy to navigate and all the information was on the page in front of me. This tool could be very useful in having students work on their summarizing skills and writing papers based on an informational text.

  1. Professional email generator, This tool is made to create an email for professional settings. This tool is very easy to use and is very effective, all I put in was a few things I needed in the email and it wrote the rest for me. This could be used for a teacher to easily send an email to administrators without taking the time to make sure it sounds perfect.

Here is an example of what a Professional email would look like on Magic School AI.

I find all these tools very helpful for me as a teacher and as a student but the one that I feel could be most beneficial for me as a teacher would be the lesson plan generator. It is a time saver and could help me get ideas for lesson plans.

These tools align with my educational goals and ethical standing because, at the end of the day, I am still checking over all the work and tweaking it to fit my class and their needs.

The biggest challenge I have found is when the information that is produced sounds too inorganic and doesn’t fit the language that my class is used to.

I think magic school is a great tool for teachers to speed up some of the small things that would take a lot of time away from instruction. This is a tool that I would recommend to all new teachers if they are finding themselves buried in work.
